Wk4 Free Post

I was wondering why people care so much about blogging and I don't. I just don't find it interesting enough with the amount of time it takes up out of my time to read other people's thoughts or comments. Personally, I haven't find a blog yet that has given me that "oh my God, this is the blog I've been searching for" feeling. I rather spend that time reading a great self help book or watching a gospel play than sitting in front of a computer blogging about my experiences or reading about someone else. I'm a people's person. I prefer to talk directly to a human and have instant gratification. The Bible tells us that the eyes are the windows to the soul. I truly believe that. When you look in the eyes of someone while conversing with them, a lot of the time you can tell if they are being truthful, genuine or just pulling your leg. It's really hard to judge that from a blog post. I am not knocking blogging. I simply don't find it interesting enough for me to sit down and do it faithfully or religiously every day. Maybe someday I'll get to that point but today is not that day. Happy blogging to all those who find it fascinating and for those of you like me who find it asinine, keep living the life that makes you happy; bloggers do!

  1. You are not alone in your sentiment about blogging. I think that the interest in blogging in the classroom is that it can be a tool where student work is no longer limited to the audience of one, the teacher, but instead one's work is available to all one's peers. That is a powerful difference. Love it or hate it, writing is a big part of the classroom and blogging reframes the assignment to use students' natural desire to be heard.

Obviously nothing replaces face-to-face conversation but in places like classrooms, face-to-face/one-on-one conversation do not easily scale. So, you're points are well taken, face-to-face generally are preferred, but the blogging tool can be used to give voice to those who do not feel heard. Oh yeah, you can also make a video and post it in your blog, thus satisfying the visual need and using the blog tool. :-)
